Breathe deep, be well.

Pranayama is the Sanskrit word for breathing, ‘Prana’ means life force, ‘yama’ is to control. This simple yet powerful practice fortifies the respiratory system. Here are just a few of the many good reasons to practice pranayama:

  • Like meditation, it will bring you into the present moment

  • Awareness of the body is heightened and it balances energy

  • Focused breathing replaces anxiety with peace

  • Pranayama soothes fluctuating moods and hormonal shifts

  • The nervous system is calmed while concentration is sharpened

  • It supports a better nights’ sleep.

  • Breathing properly, supports all the organs to function better in the body.

My next online course starts on March 23rd. It is €30 for 4 sessions. To book, drop me a line through the front page of this website or contact me on 085 2441321 before 4pm any day. Advance payment is required.

I am not a medic or therapist so for safety, if you are pregnant or have diabetes, high or low blood pressure, vertigo, epilepsy or a heart condition, consult with your doctor before practicing pranayama.

March 14th update: some amazing people are working on the ground! A big shout out to the medics as well as all the volunteers who are helping people in isolation, the elderly and the vulnerable. As the corona virus escalates, volunteers are much-needed. If you are one of them I am happy to offer you a free pranayama class. Get in touch by phone or use the front page of this website to write to me. We are in crisis but rather than letting the mind run riot, we can train it to be calmer through breathing. I hope this helps.
